(355) – 18 Day Challenge

I am thinking of an 18 day challenge whether it’s a writing challenge, a fitness challenge or any other personal one but it has to be only 18 day beginning from today.

I am currently reading a book called Just After Sunset by Stephen King. It’s simply a collection of short stories that includes a couple of truly wonderful stories you should not miss. What I really like is where the story begins and how it ends. Sometimes, I really get lost in the first few pages especially if there’s much description of every thing where I fail at understanding every single word but it’s still worth reading because you can’t just throw the book away, I mean I can’t tolerate myself for doing such a thing, it’s kind of a challenge to whether or not I can push myself to read…

Just After Sunset actually opened my eyes to story writing and what a fantastic adventure it’d be to reach new areas and thoughts in your mind that you never knew about. I guess the beauty of it comes later on, after years of writing and mastering the stories then you go back to your first trials and realize how far you’ve gone. Moreover, I was amazed by the girl who appeared on Humans Of New York the other day talking about the characters and the world she invented and how everything was just so good and relevant. In other words, it was the sign I wanted to try to write a story.

Somethings are not merely random or coincidence, they’re in fact opportunities in disguise wandering to be recognized and seized upon eagerly, so my 18 Day Challenge is going to be about writing stories, 18 different stories for the next 18 days.

Did I mention why “18” in particular?! 😉

(353) – Why Writing

Every now and then, I find myself giving in to fear or somehow enjoying being afraid of something that never existed before and building fake walls to overcome, disillusions and deceiving thoughts that have nothing to do but to inspire a writer.

That kind of feeling just tried to mess with my mind, with my clear thinking while I was considering my new plans regarding looking for a job and starting my career path.

Music plays a big part of such misleading thinking especially if you’re the kind of people who loves music very much and every song has its own story in your head either a memory, a future plan or merely a dream you’d really like to come true one day.

Writing does help me eliminate any negative self-talk and make every success possible, it’s one of the reasons I want to be a writer because I can be who I am away from people, I can be independent or interdependent with the one I would to share my life story with…

(344) – Two Wolves – Book Review

“Opening the floodgates to the depths of your heart and unchaining your deepest secrets can stir up some conflict in your life.”

“No matter what happens, you can teach yourself to bloom during the darkest of times, just like the midnight flower.”

“Hindsight is always 20/20, and to an extent I agree with this, but if you aren’t looking back once in a while and being honest with yourself, your vision doesn’t actually exist. Your vision can’t exist because you have absolutely no idea where you came from.”

“Life is incredibly balanced. It gives you a taste of feeling horrible about yourself so you can truly experience the warmth in your heart when you are living in the present and enjoying the path you are on.”

“Life is not a male vs. female issue. It is in fact a person to person collaboration.”

The Better Man Project is a story I’ve been following on the social networks for more than a year now and it’s actually one of my favorite pages on Facebook of all time. I don’t know Evan -the author of the book- on a personal level, we never had a chat before but I can absolutely relate to his blogs, image quotes and stories he always shares because we both have missions as well as goals to come true, we both aspire to be better and that’s how it all started.

Evan has been sharing his book online and the moment I got an email encouraging me to read the book, I said to myself “that’s enough! I’m gonna download and read the book”. It is truly life-changing, paradigm shifting and life transforming book. Even if you hadn’t been following the project from the very beginning, you can still figure out what the writer is talking about.

The first thing I admire is the title; Two Wolves. As Evan explains in his book, a wolf is fierce and can transform your life, either the good or the bad wolf, both can make quantum change to your life and lead you to a totally different place other than your wanted destiny.

The writer then starts expressing his love and admiration for writing and how helpful it is for us, people, to write on and vent to papers. Nobody is a good writer, or nobody thinks he/she is a good writer but in fact, we all can write and put our thoughts into words, you never know who’s going to like your writing style. I am not a good writer, I neither speak nor read English perfectly but I am trying and some friends do really like what they read, so it’s worth the try, trust me on that.

I loved the chapter “You Open The Door & It’s You” OMG! How can somebody come up with such a story? It’s like seeing a 10 years older version of you standing right there at your doorstep; well, would you recognize that person? would you welcome him? Would you like him? What would you want him to be like?

One of the subjects I really liked was about feminism because here in my country, there’s always a battle between males and females, who’s right and who’s wrong. Both sides become emotional and start talking aimlessly thinking the one who shuts up first is a loser and inferior. I guess if we were to focus on the mutual bonds between us and the fact that we were created to complete each other, things would be different. If we were to empathetic about each other, we would be in a totally different place today.

The ending of the book is such a great story, a personal story of the writer and how he could overcome inner fears and personal struggles after 100 days of continues effort then commitment to 12 weeks of hard work. i was moved, I was inspired and felt this flow of energy and determination flowing in my blood.

Moreover, there was a statement in the last few pages that goes “begin with the end in mind”… I am now reading a book called The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey and this statement has been repeated over and over again in the book. I did mull it over times and times again and felt like I totally understood it after it was mentioned here right in Tow Wolves. So yes, begin with the end of mind…

(319) – What? Nominated? Award? Inspiring?

The year of 2014 was so generous to bring me to meet one true man whom I used to think is perfect when in fact, he’s a completely natural man with ambitions, desires and sins. That made him more real in my eyes and was the reason behind our strong friendship because being imperfect is somehow perfect in itself. I did not want to talk about Jim Wright until he leaves Jordan going back home next month because I know I’ll miss him and get emotional, but I had to mention what a great person he is and to quote Sam Smith:

“He could be a sinner, or a gentleman
He could be a preacher when your soul is damned
He could be a lawyer on a witness stand”

A couple of days ago, Olbigjim posted a new blog on his Facebook page and as usual, I immediately pressed on the link to read what story he has this time for us when suddenly I noticed my name down among other great bloggers; I have been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. My eyes popped out and I was like “What? Nominated? Award? Inspiring?”

Well, apparently, I’m doing a good job without even knowing about it. When I first started blogging, I did not expect I’d continue and inspire any person with my humble stories as well as diaries but it’s all about having a goal, a destination in mind and determination in heart. I stopped blogging for so long but now the inspiration is back with more hope.

Now i’m nominated for the award, I have four tasks to perform and they are:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link to their blog.
  2. Display the award logo.
  3. Nominate at least 15 other blogs and provide a link where they may be found. Then go to their blog, leave a comment to let them know they’ve been nominated, and where to find the information they need to accept (rules).
  4. Mention three things that inspired you the most during the past few weeks.

Very Inspiring Blogger Award - Rally's Beauty Highway

Thank you so much my dearest Jim for everything, it’s truly been a pleasure to meet you on a personal level and get to spend sometime with you. As for my nominees, it’s going to be a tough job because there are so many bloggers that I respect and love to read what they publish on their blogs. I’d like to apologize for not viewing your blogs as much lately but I’ve been going through a rough patch in my time, hopefully, I’ll be able to read and comment on what I’ve missed in the last few months.

My nominations for Very Inspiring Blogger Award are:

  1. Meticulous Mick
  2. My Success Is Your Success
  3. Kmabarrett
  4. Cindy Knoke
  5. Walk with me on my journey of illness to the road of happiness and a life of fulfillment
  6. Sheri de Grom
  7. How The Cookie Crumbles
  8. A Pondering Mind
  10. Miss Your Eyes
  11. Black And Write
  12. Edith Levy Photography
  14. Awesome AJ
  15. Kira Moore’s Closet

Well, it’s time now to mention three things that inspired me in the last few weeks.

First, I think it’s wintertime; I love the rain and snow. I love to walk under the rain, get wet then when I’m home sit by the window listening to the rain again. It’s been snowing here for a couple of days, I posted two blogs on that, you can check here.

Second, it’s motivation. I get high on motivation speeches. I’m trying to start my day with listening to a couple of inspiring as well as motivational words that make me get up and active by the great Les Brown. I highly recommend all his speeches and if you ever get a chance to attend one of his shows, then you must do. Check out his Facebook page.

Lastly, feeling accepted and loved by my family and friends is always a source of hope, inspiration as well. The feeling that somebody loves you, accepts you even when you don’t accept yourself is truly inspiring.

Thank you everyone for making some time to visit my blog and help me make it successful. I’ve done my best with the nominations, there are still lots of great blogs here so maybe this year I’ll make more time to discover them. Thank you Jim Wright again for the nomination, I’m so looking forward to meet you the soonest. 🙂
