(008) – Swallow Your Pride

“Always stand on principle….even if you stand alone” –John Adams–

“In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock” –Thomas Jefferson–

Too many are the situation s one encounters every day, your reactions vary from generosity to patience to whatever response but some specific problems obligate you to be selfish and act differently. I mean you can never swallow your pride when it comes to your dignity or if you get manipulated or even underestimated by others.

I see it difficult to recall all similar situations you’ve been in to evaluate your problem and come out with a proper reaction because time passes quickly and confidence should be accompanied with quick responses as well. Meanwhile, principles do stand out, and those who stand on a principle have never been afraid of standing alone.

A principle has one great advantage; you never have to think about it. Take it or leave it. Stand on your principle and you have the whole world. Back to school days, I was taught that there’s right and there’s wrong even if most of people do one thing, it’s not necessarily the right thing to do.

To have a vision and a predicting eye is such a blessing. To be able to bear with others and put up with their shit at times when egos arise is even a greater one. Swallow your pride if only you know you’d be appreciated and understood; some people can never sacrifice but they deserve to be sacrificed for because of their position in our hearts. Perhaps, everything is fair in love and war.

Today, I’m swallowing my pride and ego, I deign and ask about someone hurt me the other day, maybe it is my duty and I have to fulfill it. I have to give support, love and life as well.
